MLS Go

Rosenberg FC has a traditional approach to running our Development Program.  We believe in teaching our players the “Real” Game of soccer.  During the games, our Coaches will serve as both Coach and Referee.  The game will be played with mostly the traditional rules of the game.  We have winners and losers unless they draw.  We believe in getting them as much “Ball Time” as possible.  We do not put pressure on winning or losing, we put our emphasis on learning the game and having as much fun as possible while learning.

MLS Go will practice Monday nights with games on Friday Night's at Sunset Park.  The players will practice as a Team on Monday Night and play their League Game on Friday Night.  They will play through a season together and hopefully, finish towards the top of the standings and fight for a Championship!

It's never too late for a Child to pick up Soccer!  Sign that future Soccer Star up now!  MLS Go is not a Competitive League.  This is a place for new Soccer Players to learn the game and build their skills.  This is also a place for some of our older players (ages 8-14) to see if they like Soccer.  They can play in a non-Travel Soccer setting and figure out if it's a sport they want to pursue.

Start Date - 24 March 2025

Time - TBD (Based on Ages)

Practices - Monday Night (Team Based)

Games - Friday Nights (Times TBD)

Season Length - 10 Weeks

Coach Weir Bio

I am originally from Maracaibo, Venezuela, and have been playing and coaching soccer at various levels since my youth. I have coached teams ranging from youth to high school, at both recreational and competitive levels.

My coaching philosophy focuses on recreational-based player development, emphasizing the joy of play while instilling fundamental soccer techniques. I believe that fostering a love for the game through engaging, development-focused training helps young athletes grow both on and off the field.

In addition to coaching, I have dedicated my career to education. I hold a Ph.D. in Hispanic Studies and have been teaching since 2010. Currently, I am a faculty member at WCJC, where I am passionate about guiding students in their academic journeys. My own experiences—from learning English as a high school student in Texas to earning multiple degrees—have shaped my approach to teaching, coaching, and mentorship.

Whether in the classroom or on the field, I strive to create an environment where learning is dynamic, supportive, and fun. My goal is to help players develop technical skills, teamwork, and confidence while ensuring that their passion for soccer continues to grow.

Outside of coaching and teaching, I enjoy music, participating in school organizations, and, most importantly, spending time with my wife and children.  I look forward to working with our players and helping them enjoy the game, develop their skills, and build lasting friendships on and off the field.
